Documentation
What is the difference between the T2000ADSB and the T2000SFL?
Although both transponders are Class 1 transponders, the T2000ADSB is an ADSB Out compliant device and the T2000SFL is not. The T2000ADSB also includes an inbuilt GPS position source and altimeter, all in one compact unit for seamless integration of ADSB Out messaging of aircraft vector information.
Is the new T2000ADSB easy to use?
Yes! The T2000ADSB retains the same human machine interface as its T2000SFL predecessor. The combination of easy to use dial and push button controls, optimises menu selection and is ideal for in flight control.
Is a Mode S transponder a mandated requirement for all controlled airspace?
No. Although Mode S transponders offer some benefits for larger aircraft and may be mandated in the future, they are not currently mandated for all airspaces by all countries. Rules regarding mandates for Mode A/C, Mode S and ADSB vary significantly across different countries. In Australia as an example, the current requirement for aircraft operating in controlled airspace (other than within the airspace of the major international airports) is a Mode A/C transponder.
If operating IFR or above FL290 then you must also have ADSB Out. ADSB Out makes your aircraft electronically visible to other aircraft and enhances see and avoid for VFR flights. We encourage all owners to consider the T2000ADSB as a cost effective ADSB Out option that achieves the same safety outcomes of a more costly Mode S equivalent solution.
How do I install the new T2000ADSB?
The T2000ADSB is specifically designed as a lightweight and easy to install transponder. Determine a suitable location on the instrument panel in full view of both pilots and cut a 57mm diameter (2 ¼ inch) hole with 4 x 4mm holes for the mounting screws. Four M4 x 12mm machine screws are provided as sufficient support for the transponder with no additional support tray or bracket required for standard instrument panel structures.
Please contact us at support@microair.aero if you believe that your aircraft panel structure is not standard and may be too weak to support the load. Microair can also provide you with a variety of harnesses to meet your needs for any new installations so contact our friendly staff to seek advice.
Do I need to install anything else to allow the functioning of the T2000ADSB?
Yes. For new installations, you will need to ensure that a standard transponder antenna is fitted to your aircraft. Microair offers the AV-22 transponder antenna and necessary Coax harness from your transponder. All T2000ADSB installations will also require a GPS antenna to be installed either on the outside skin of your aircraft (for metallic skin aircraft) or on your instrument dashboard (for composite skin aircraft). Contact our friendly staff or refer to our website for further information.
Can I upgrade my existing T2000SFL to the new T2000ADSB?
Yes! The T2000ADSB has been specifically designed with an upgradable option for existing T2000SFL customers. See more here
